Donations Around the Lincoln Lakes, we see loons, ospreys, and eagles. Our suggested giving levels are named for these wonderful birds that will be threatened by the turbines. Every contribution is important! Please join in the effort to save the Lincoln Lakes!

Presentation First Wind's Rollins Mountains Industrial Wind Project will change the Lincoln Lakes Region forever! See our slide-show |

Factoid A site like the Rollins project in Lincoln Lakes will consume more than 700 acres of land, an acreage far larger than most Maine farms. It entails creating a 3-6 acre clearcut for each turbine site, blasting and leveling, digging down to bedrock and pouring tons of concrete to anchor each 262 foot tower which is topped by a 92 ton nacelle (turbine generator) and 253 foot wide blades. A huge, wide network of roads must be created up to and across ridgelines to get these huge components into place. At Rollins, more than 20 miles of powerlines will be cut. All of the turbine sites and powerlines will be kept cleared by the use of herbicides, effecting dozens of streams, all of the lakes around Lincoln and the watershed of three rivers. Siltation of streams and lakes will occur from erosion from all this construction. Lastly, important wildlife habitat will be fragmented and ruined.

About us We are a group of concerned people, both year-round residents and seasonal camp owners who are drawn to the beauty of the Lincoln Lakes Region. We believe that by far not all the questions on the impact to Lincoln, Maine concerning such a big project can be answered. This website is dedicated to raising the questions, and, when answered, publishing the information. The proposal by First Wind to develop a sprawling industrial wind turbine (windmill) site on Rollins Mountain and the ridges of Rocky Dundee will change the character of the Lincoln Lakes Region forever. We believe that only informed people can make sound decisions and therefore this website should help to provide some of the information needed.
